Tepuy Empanadas

Summary

I had the privilege of meeting a family from Venezuela. Jose, one of the family members approached me on Facebook and asked if I could help him with his street food venture. Something else about this family stuck with me. It was their sense of togetherness and belonging. It’s not a one man band, it’s a family and they all do their bit. Their two young boys help every weekend and they have dreams that are not pushed to one side. They are constantly winning and grafting and for that reason alone, I decided to help them.

Challenge

Revamping the brand for Tepuy Empanasa stall came with unique challenges. One of the key hurdles is balancing a traditional and modern appeal. Empanadas are often tied to cultural heritage, so updating the brand required maintaining that authenticity while creating a fresh, appealing look that attracts new customers. Another challenge was standing out in a crowded market. It was important to differentiate the stall visually and in messaging, while keeping the focus on what makes their empanadas special—whether it's the recipe, ingredients, or story behind the business.

Solutions

Some of the solutions to this were talking to the family, visiting the stall for myself so I could get a feel for the overall vibe of the stall and the way they interact with their customers.

We ended up with a clear mark that can be translated into icons and stamped easily onto packaging.
